Differences in these three forms of any skin care products lie in their thickness. Let’s drill on each of these forms in details.

Among the three, lotion is lightest form of baby skin care products as it is formulated with the lowest oil and highest water contents (about 70 to 80% water content). With this formulation, lotion has the capability to absorb quickly and has no greasy feeling.

Like lotion, cream is also formulated with oil and water but has higher oil content than lotion. Creams typically have 60% to 70% water content. This is the reason why squeeze bottle instead of the pump is used for cream as it is too thick to pump!

Unlike lotions and creams, balm do not have water content. Water helps to spread a thin layer of oil on the skin and helps to moisturize the skin. This explains why after shower or bath is an best time to apply lotion or cream. Balm is a little thicker and heavier than a cream. Hence, you tend to have the oily feeling (which lasts only a few minutes) after applying balm. With balm, baby skin is guarded against further irritation as balm acts a ‘guard’ to the skin.

Is there such thing as ‘organically produced’ bottled water (i.e. guaranteed free from pesticides and other residues)?

Technically, NO. According to the Soil Association (SA) water can’t be certified as organic (just as salt can’t), although that doesn’t mean that all waters are the same. Highland Spring do state in their publicity that their bottled water is sourced from chemical-free land that’s free from chemical-free land that’s certified as organic by the Soil Association, and have in the past featured the SA logo on their products – but purely as an “on-pack” promotion, as they put it.
